A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 24, at 10 a.m. at Delta United Methodist Church with Dr. Roy Trueblood officiating. Inurnment will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Omaha, Neb., later this summer.

Mrs. Mion was born July 22, 1919, in Memphis, Tenn., to King and Hazel (Davies) Banks. She spent her childhood in Delta and graduated from Delta High School in 1937. She attended the University of Arkansas and received a business degree from Western State College in Gunnison.

She married William Mion on Feb. 13, 1943, at Barksdale Air Base in Shreveport, La. They lived in Omaha, Neb., for 35 years before moving to Delta.

Mrs. Mion was a secretary for a real estate brokerage company. She was a social worker for the State of Nebraska for 15 years. She was a longtime member of Delta United Methodist Church and a former member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Omaha, Neb., where she taught Sunday school. She volunteered at Delta County Memorial Hospital for many years and was a member of PEO Chapter BK. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, walking, volunteering in the community, her family and traveling.

She is survived by three daughters, Stephanie “Steve” Longsdorf of Wheatridge, Francie Mion of Delta, and Martha “Marty” Shields of Omaha, Neb.; a sister, Margaret Stewart of Olathe; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Mion was preceded in death by her husband, William Mion; and three sisters, Ruth Bolin, Carol Tuffin and Charlotte Rawls.
